Our Apologies: Germanna's ongoing email problems
To our students, friends, customers, and colleagues:
We apologize for the ongoing difficulties in reaching us by email. We ask your patience and please consider calling us or using alternative email addresses when you have been given those.
For the third time in less than a week, a user of our email systems gave their password to an offsite spammer, allowing them access to their email account. As a result, external email is now often labeled as coming from a known spammer, and all Germanna emails are prevented from being sent.
These tricksters pretend to be our IT staff and ask for your password to "Fix" some problem.
GCC never asks for your email or any other account password. You never have to fill out electronic forms to "reset" your account.
So while our IT staff work mightily to clean the problem, as Smokey the Bear might say, "Only you can prevent further outbreaks."
NEVER give your password to ANYONE, even to me.
NEVER fill out any electronic form that asks for your password.
NEVER open ANY attachment if you are not CERTAIN it is safe. When in doubt, call the send and ask if they sent it.
NEVER click on any link in email or browser unless you are CERTAIN it is safe. When in doubt, ignore any link.
This is an object less for us all. Every day someone allows access to a personal bank account, an employer's files, or other private data.
Please help.
DO NOT CLICK
Again, my personal apologies. And thank you for your forbearance.
David Sam
President
